Abstract

The wheel rim for receiving a tubeless tyre with inextensible beads, has a tyre bead retainer flange (3, 4) at each side of the rim, and a base (2) having bead seats, the seats being adjacent the flanges and adapted to receive and seat beads (6, 7) of a tyre to support loads between the beads and rim in use. The base of the rim has a well (8) having sidewalls and a well base, the sidewalls extending radially inwardly of the rim base towards the well base. A removable obstructor (11) for the well extends circumferentially around the rim, and is positively retained to deny the tyre beads access to any substantial circumferential length of the well.
