Hindered amine substd., maleic anhydride modified olefin polymers of general formula (I) or (II) are new. (R=an alpha-olefin or copolymer residue; x and y=integers such that the total tetramethyl piperidine residue is 0.2-10.0 wt.%, pref. 0.2-6.0 wt.%, of the total modified olefin polymer; R'=H, OH, O or O-R''; R''=lower alkyl or substd. lower alkyl having at least 1H on the C attached to the N atom).
