Abstract

The valve comprises fixed and movable plaques (18,19) housed in a changeable cartridge (10) contained in the body (1) of the valve with an axial clearance. The cartridge carries peripherally, near its inner end, a gasket (6) to radially seal a corresp. bore of the valve body. A sealing union (11,16) is located between the cartridge and one water inlet pipe (7). The other water inlet pipe (8) communicates with the bottom portion of the valve body (1). The remaining portion of the body cavity communicates with a delivery union. The arrangement is such that the pressure of the water in the second pipe acts on the cartridge as on a piston to urge the plaques together. A resilient member (30) may act between the valve body and the cartridge to permanently load the plaques.
