Abstract

The lengths of pipe are joined end-to-end with a double socket connector. One end of the socket fits over the pipe with a sealing ring. The other end has an enlarged diameter (1) and a housing at the outer end, in which is held a composite C-shaped flexible seal. The outer part of the seal comprises a C-shaped roller or polymer sealing ring (5) held firm in the socket by an internal C-shaped fixing ring (8). The inner leaf of the fixing ring is flexible and holds the inner leaf (2) of the seal against the outer wall of the pipe (12).
