Abstract

A colour-developing compsn. for use in mfr. of a recording support consists of a metal-modified p-alkylphenol-formaldehyde resin contg. is not 8C alkyl, CaO, Ca(OH)2 and/or MgO. Pref. the alkyl radical is octyl or nonyl, the modifying metal is Zn, and the compsn. also contains a kaolin-type clay (to improve the capacity for printing on paper). Pref. concn. of CaO, Ca(OH)2 and/or MgO is 0.5-6 pts. dry wt. (esp. 1-4pts) per 100 pts. dry wt. of compsn.
