Abstract
The probe, of tubular cross-section, is arranged to be inserted into the oesophagus of a patient and temporarily orientated there during, e.g. surgical work. The probe monitors are indicates certain body functions, including heart flow curve, heart sound, and body temp. of the patient. The indicators are supplied via conductors and form, together with the probe casing, an inseparable unit, the indicators being arranged within an area determined by the cylindrical outer surface of the probe. The heart functions are arranged to be monitored and externally indicated by an accelerometer arranged in a clamping fluid and operative also to monitor lung sound. Two spaced electrodes and the accelerometer form separate units each connected to the plastics casing to be inseparable from it.
