Abstract

The hermetically sealed (10) motor-driven refrigerant compressor unit (12) comprises a main body (18) which is resiliently supported in the enclosure and carries the motor stator (14). The rotor is connected to a crank mechanism which reciprocates the piston in the compressor cylinder (40 is the cylinder head). The body contains only one silencer chamber (34) on the compressor outlet side. The refrigerant gas enters the inlet chamber in the cylinder head via a tube (38) shaped to act as inlet silencer. Two pillars (42,44) on the body (18) are diametrically arranged relative to the rotor axis and serve as a fixture for the stator.
