Abstract
A novel constant boiling mixt. consists of 22 mol.% 1-chloro-2,2,2-trifluoroethane (I) and 78 mol.% octafluorocyclobutane (II). The mixt. boils at -8 degrees C at 760mm. The mixt. is esp. useful as a compression refrigerant, partic. in systems using centrifugal or rotary compressors. It provides increased refrigeration capacity over components. The mixt. can also be used as heat transfer medium, gaseous dielectric, expansion agent for e.g. polyolefins and polyurethanes, working fluid in power cycles, solvent and aerosol propellant.
