SAM in an acid soln. with picolonic acid, dissoln. of the piciolonate in H2SO4 and p-toluenesulphonic acid and an aq. solvent, pptn. of an SAM salt by the addn. of a ketonic or alcoholic solvent, dissoln. of the salt in p-toluene sulphonic acid in MeOH and pptn. of the SAM double salt by adding an aq. solvent.
