Abstract
The present application relates to a sliding element, in particular a piston ring with a DLC coating (12) on a substrate. The sliding element according to the invention is characterised in that a softer material (14) than DLC is embedded into the surface of the DLC coating (12) with which the sliding element will come into contact with a sliding partner, against which the sliding element will slide. (Fig. 1)
