Abstract

Method of packing filter cigarettes consisting in the following: after the manufacture of filter cigarettes the intervening space of, for example, the magazine of a packer is filled with finished cigarettes, a portion of cigarettes is formed and delivered by a feeder to the working position, at which it is packed into an inner casing, for example, foil-lined paper, the said portion of cigarettes is delivered to the next position and packed into a hard (or soft) package which forms a pack of cigarettes, the said pack of cigarettes is delivered to the subsequent position and packed into an external casing, for example, a transparent film, characterized by that in the course of filling the said intervening space with finished filter cigarettes, they are oriented by arranging filter ends towards the package bottom, with the help of the tray twisted into the shape of Mobius loop, ensuring the arrangement of cigarettes with tobacco ends towards the opening end of a finished package, achieving optimal hygienic conditions of using filter cigarettes and improving conditions of using filter cigarettes.

Description

METHOD OF PACKING FILTER CIGARETTES Author: Gurevich V.
Background of the Invention This invention relates to the methods of packaging consumer goods, namely, the methods of packing filter cigarettes and can be used in filter cigarette packers.
There are well known methods of cigarette packing at which in accordance with the said methods the finished filter cigarettes, when manufactured, are delivered to the magazine of packer; then a portion of cigarettes is formed, delivered by a feeder to the working position and packed into an inner foil or foil-lined paper casing; after which the said portion of cigarettes is delivered to the next position and packed into a hard or soft package, and filter cigarettes in this case are arranged with their filter ends towards the opening end of a finished package (pack) ; the package is delivered to the subsequent position and packed into an external transparent casing (see, for example, US patent 3911643, Int. CI. B65B19 "Cigarette Packing Machine"; US patent 4330976, Int.Cl.B65B19 "Packer Machine").
A similar method is used in the manufacture of "Noblesse" filter cigarettes made by the LOD CIGARETTES LTD, Israel; filter cigarettes "Marlboro" made by the "Philip Morris" concern, USA.
According to the known methods of packing filter cigarettes, the packing of cigarettes is implemented by arranging them with their filter ends towards the package (pack) opening end, which does not ensure optimal hygienic conditions and sufficient convenience in using filter cigarettes.
The purpose of the proposed technical solution is the achievement of optimal hygienic conditions of using filter cigarettes and the improvement of conditions of using filter cigarettes.
Summary of the Invention In the proposed method of packing filter cigarettes the set target is achieved by orienting finished filter cigarettes delivered from a cigarette-making machine and filling the intervening space of, for example, a packer magazine, so that their filter ends are arranged towards the bottom of a package, with the help of the tray twisted into the shape of the Mobius loop providing the arrangement of their tobacco ends towards the opening end of the finished package (pack) .
From the packer magazine the formed portion of filter cigarettes is delivered by a feeder to the working position and packed into an inner foil or foil-lined casing. After this the said portion of filter cigarettes is delivered to the next position and packed into a hard or soft package, for example, of cardboard or paper; in this case the cigarettes are arranged with their filter ends towards the bottom of a package, and with their tobacco ends - towards the opening end of a finished package (pack) .
Then the said pack of filter cigarettes is delivered to the subsequent position and packed into an external casing, for example, a transparent film.
In the proposed solution, the additional orientation of filter cigarettes with their tobacco ends towards the opening end of a finished package (pack) was achieved while delivering finished cigarettes from a cigarette-making machine to a packer, or without the additional orientation, for example, by changing the mechanism arrangement of a cigarette-making machine or packer.
Brief Description of the Drawings The essence of the invention is illustrated on the attached drawings Fig.l - shows schematically the sectional view of a finished package (pack) of filter cigarettes in a hard package.
Fig.2 - shows schematically the orientation of filter cigarettes.
Description of the Preferred Embodiment In the preferred embodiment of realizing the proposed method the essence of the proposed method of packing filter cigarettes is illustrated by the enclosed drawings 1 and 2, the outline of the operations description and the sequence of the operations.
The intervening space, for example, the magazine of a packer is filled with finished filter cigarettes 1 (Fig.l), delivered from a cigarette-making machine; in the course of filling the packer magazine with finished cigarettes, they are oriented with filter 2 towards package bottom 3, thus ensuring the arrangement of tobacco end 4 of cigarettes towards the finished package opening end (upper flap 5) , in this case the orientation of filter cigarettes is implemented, for example, by means of a twisted tray (the Mobius loop) Fig.2.
Cigarettes 10 are delivered from packing machine distributor 9 Fig.2 to a tray 11 twisted 180 degrees. By moving inside tray 11 cigarettes 10 are oriented 180 degrees to align with the filter (position 15, 16). Then the cigarettes enter magazine 12. From magazine 12, a portion of cigarettes 14 formed in feeder 13 is delivered to a packing device (not shown in the drawing) and packed into an inner foil or foil-lined casing 6.
The said portion of cigarettes is delivered to the next position and packed , for example, into a hard package 7 of cardboard or soft package, of paper. In this case the cigarettes are arranged with filter ends towards the bottom of a package, and with tobacco ends - towards the opening end of a finished package (pack) .
The filter cigarettes packed into a hard or soft package are delivered to the subsequent position and packaged into an external casing 8, for example, a transparent film.
As this takes place, it should be noted that in the course of the packaging the arrangement of the filter cigarettes with tobacco ends towards the pack opening end can be realized by: - changing the arrangement of actuators in a cigarette-making machine, - changing the arrangement of actuators in a packer, - gravitational orientation mechanism during the transportation of cigarettes from the cigarette-making machine to the packer.
The realization of the proposed packing method implies the use of both the existing equipment with the introduction into it of the operation of orienting cigarettes with tobacco ends towards the pack opening end, and the new equipment not requiring the additional orientation of filter cigarettes implemented, for example, by changing the arrangement of the actuators of the existing equipment.
The described solution presents a counterbalance to the known methods of packing filter cigarettes, according to which the packing of cigarettes is implemented by arranging the cigarettes with filter ends towards the finished package (pack) opening end, which does not ensure optimal hygienic conditions and sufficient convenience in using filter cigarettes.
Thus the proposed method of packing filter cigarettes ensures the packing of finished cigarettes, at which filter cigarettes are arranged in a finished package (pack) with filter ends towards the package bottom and with their tobacco ends - towards the opening end of the finished pack which makes it possible to avoid touching a cigarette filter with hands after opening the pack and putting out cigarettes from it. And since we smoke more often than we wash our hands, the proposed method allows to ensure optimal hygienic conditions in using filter cigarettes. The lesser probability of lighting up a cigarette at the filter end improves the conditions of using filter cigarettes .
