Abstract

Disclosed is a metal oxide varistor comprising a body portion consisting essentially of a metal oxide and a small percentage of a plurality of preselected additives. The body portion defines two major surface areas and metallic contacts are applied to the two surface areas. Beneath the contacts there is a coating that enhances the adhesion of the contacts. In a preferred embodiment disclosed herein the coating contours the surface of the body and thereby enhances contact adhesion. [US3903494A]
