Abstract

1460807 Dredging; anchoring and moving marine structures VAN HATTUM EN BLANKEVOORT BAGGEREN BV and PHILIPP HOLZMANN AG 4 April 1975 [8 April 1974 7 Oct 1974] 15533/74 and 43414/74 Headings E1F and E1H A dredge comprises a flexible adaptor segment 129-133 mounted on a body 101-104 and connecting an inlet pipe 108 to a multisectioned discharge pipe 134 to allow the discharge pipe to be payed out or taken in by at least one section so that a section can be added or removed. The adaptor segment is composed of flexible pipes 133, rigid pipes and bend units 131, 132, and metal strips which are attached to the rigid pipes or to flanges on the flexible pipes and are serially interconnected by hinges which restrict the angle that can be made between two adjoining strips. In the above embodiment the adaptor segment is shown lying in a vertical plane whereas in another embodiment the adaptor segment lies in a horizontal plane. The adaptor segment may also comprise a flexible tube extending around the periphery of a wheel which is rotatable about a vertical axis and movable along the deck of the body. The body is movable by means of cables 125 and winches 126, and a "gravity anchor" 124. In use the anchor 124 is dropped on the sea bed and relief of the weight of the anchor allows the body to float. The winches 126 are operated to move the body along, and also to turn it on the anchor if required. The anchor is then raised again and its weight ensures that the body rests on the sea bed. The inlet pipe 108 may be telescopic and is mounted on a horizontally and vertically pivotable jib 105, the latter having a cutter head 106 mounted thereon. [GB1460807A]
