Abstract
1470189 Preparation of bicycloalkane derivatives SCHERING AG 10 April 1974 [18 April 1973 25 Feb 1974] 15906/74 Heading C2C Bicycloalkane derivatives of formula in which n represents 1 or 2, R represents -CH 3 or -C 2 H 5 group, and X and Y together represent an oxo group, an alkylenedioxy group or a phenylenedioxy group or X represents a hydrogen atom and Y represents a hydroxyl group, an alkoxy group or an acyloxy group, are prepared by reducing a compound of formula in which n, R, X and Y have the meanings given above and M represents an alkali metal atom, in the presence of a palladium-, platinum- or rhodium-containing catalyst. The reduction is carried out, preferably, at 0‹ to 50‹ C.
