Abstract

1446034 Flash spinning polymer emulsions CROWN ZELLERBACH INTERNATIONAL Inc 29 Aug 1973 [30 Aug 1972] 40597/73 Heading B5B [Also in Division D2] Polymeric fibres are formed by flash spinning an emulsion comprising as the continuous phase the polymer and an organic liquid capable of dissolving or swelling the polymer and as the dispersed phase water. The mixture may also contain a partially water soluble dispersing agent for the fibres. The polymer is preferably thermoplastic and present in an amount of between 2 and 30% by wt. of solvent + polymer. Polyethylene and polypropylene are exemplified but polyesters, polyamides, polycarbonates, polysulphones, PVC, polymethylmethacrylate, polyacrylonitrile and polystyrene are mentioned. [GB1446034A]
