1420831 Anabolic compositions ROUSSELUCLAF 10 May 1973 [10 May 1972] 22318/73 Heading A5B Anabolic compositions, e.g. for fattening calves, comprise a vehicle and at least one compound of each of the formulae: wherein R represents an alkyl radical; X represents H, alkyl, phenylalkyl, alkenyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkylthioalkyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic radical or an acyl residue which is a carboxylic acid residue of an alkyl, alkoxy, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, arylalkyl, aryloxyalkyl or monocyclic heterocyclic carboxylic acid in which, where appropriate the aryl or heterocyclic ring may be substituted by halogen or alkyl, A represents H or #-alkoxy; Y represents H, Me, ethynyl or haloethynyl and X' represents H or an acyl residue as defined above. The compositions may be in forms suitable for oral or parenteral administration or for implantation and may optionally also comprise an antiinflammatory steroid and/or a progestational steroid, specific examples of which are given.
