Abstract

1354192 Citric acid MITSUI SUGAR CO Ltd and H IIZUKA 21 July 1972 [23 July 1971] 34299/72 Heading C2C Citric acid is prepared by aerobic fermentation of a culture medium containing hydrocarbons with a strain of Candida oleophila. n-paraffins (9-35 C) are preferred and are used in 5-20À1 by volume of the culture medium. Nitrogen sources, phosphate, magnesium or manganese salts, thiamine and nicotinic acid and a neutralizing agent may be used in an aerobic submerged culture method. Examples describe the use of Candida oleophila ATCC 20177 to ferment n-paraffins (11-15 C). [GB1354192A]
