Abstract
1365904 Gas discharge display panels OWENS-ILLINOIS Inc 5 Aug 1971 [6 Aug 1970] 36886/71 Heading H1D A gas discharge display/memory panel comprises a gas space defined by spaced dielectric surfaces coated with an oxide of Al, Ti, Zr, Hf or Si, 100-10,000Š thick, to stabilize the magnitude of operating potentials. The panel is prepared by applying and curing dielectric material, e.g. Pb borosilicate on a glass substrate carrying an array of Au strip electrodes and depositing the oxide by electron beam evaporation. Two plates with their arrays mutually perpendicular are sealed together and the intervening space filled with Ne with 0À1% A. Other methods of depositing the oxide are described including spraying and oxidizing a layer of the element.
