Description
Tassel for blind cords.
Obiect of invention. 'l‘his invention relates to a tassel for blind cords. used to temporarily hold together the free ends of the operation blind cords, including mentioned tassel at least one first piece and a second independent part, attached to the respective free ends of actuation cord blinds, and showing on the surfaces facing each other first halves and second halves of magnetic attraction, suitable for establishing the retention of tassel parts in a mounting position, and for allowing the separation of mentioned parts of the tassel when a force exceeding the magnetic attraction of said first and second means applies between the two strings.
This tassel for blind cards has structural features directed to simplifying the manufacturing process of the tassel in question and to allowing that the very means of magnetic attraction to establish the link and balance of the tassel parts, making it unnecessary to use additional elements to obtain these functions.
Field of application of the invention.
This invention is applicable in the manufacturing of tiassels for blind cords. especially Venetian Blinds, Roman Shades and other similar elements operated by cords.
Background of the invention.
At present it is usual for Venetian blinds, Roman Shades and other similar it.ems to have cords for its manual operation, and could these cords be two or more, and being operated simultaneously in order to get a vertical displacement of the curtain or Roman Shade towards a position of opening or closing.
The free ends of these cords hang from one of the sides of the blind, being normal that said ends pass through a tassel or similar and that are fixed together by a knot, leaving the knot hidden by the tassel in question.
This knot determines that the free ends of the cords define at its lower end a closed loop that carries a risk of injury by hanging or strangulation, especially for young children playing with the cords ofthe blind. . .:.q¢.,,.,“ ._ _‘ ._ -s.‘.. _..._.._ W-wan.”-‘" . 1. . . Said knob includes two independent parts that define other portions of the tassel perimeter, and show on the facing surfaces: complementary relieves for proper well balance in a mounting position, magnetic halves for retent.ion in that mounting position and the separation of both pieces when a force greater than the attraction force of said magnetic halves is applied between the cords, and channels for placing the free ends of the cords and their fastening with the respective tassel parts. 'l‘hese features allow a fully satisfactory solving of the set out problem, as by applying a force on the loop formed by the cords, for example by hanging by the neck, overcomes the magnetic attraction force that holds together the two pieces of the tassel, causing that said parts to fall apart, being hanged up from the respective free ends of the cords, with a consequent opening of the loop, to avoid the risk ofhanging or strangulation.
However, this tassel shows manufacturing disadvantages, since the built-in of the magnetic halves in the pieces forming part of the tassel, and the definition in said pieces of complementary relieves for its balance in the coupling position, determines that said parts have some constructive complexity and require certain handling to make the assembly of the magnetic halves. which increases the final cost ofthe tassel.
Description of invention.
The blind cord tassel, object of this invention, based as in the background mentioned in the conlbrtnation of the tassel by at least a first piece and a second independent part, attached to respective free ends of the blind operating cords, and presenting these parts on the facing surfaces lirst halves and second halves of magnetic attraction to establish the retention of the tassel parts in a mounting position and to allow separation of them by applying between the two cords a higher strength to the magnetic attraction strength of said first and second halves; it shows some constructive features directed to simplifying the manufacturing and geometry of the constitutive parts of the tassel and lower the final product: cost.
For this, and according to the invention, the first halves of magnetic attraction are assembled in a protruding position with regards to one first piece of the tassel lETé0021 surface; meanwhile the magnetic attraction second halves are put in the bottom of some clear—cut holes on the facing surface of tassel second half; showing the mentioned holes an identical or superior depth to the addition ofthe height of the facing parts of the tassel magnetic attraction halves.
The holes of the second piece of the tassel and the first halves of magnetic attraction, protruding of the first piece of the tassel, form complementary halves of coupling and balancing of the first and second piece of the tassel in the assembling position ofsaid tassel.
This feature allows that mentioned holes in the second piece of the tassel and the magnetic attraction first halves of the first piece of the tassel establish the balancing of both parts of the tassel in the assembling position of it, making unnecessary the definition on these parts of specific halves and additional to carry out the mentioned balancing of the pieces in the tassel assembly position.
This way it can be obtained a higher simplicity in the manufacturing of the pieces and consequently a reduction of the final cost of the tassel.
The first and the second halves of magnetic attraction can be formed by two magnet sets with the facing opposite polarities, or by a set of magnets and a set of ferromagnetic pieces, as this does not substantially affect the invention.
The fixing of the magnetic attraction first halves in a protruding position with regards to the first piece of the tassel allows that the mentioned first halves are set on that first piece surface, no need to define in the same any seat or lower for its assembly. This makes that it is enough to define in the second piece the holes with an appropriate depth to have in its bottom the magnet attraction second halves and that in the inside remains free a length enough to house the magnet: attraction first halves, when the assembly of the tassel is made.

To complement the description being made and in order to facilitate the understanding of the invention features. the present specification is accompanied by a set of drawings in which, with illustrative and non lirnitative character, the following has been represented: -Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a making example of tassel for blind cords, according to the invention, made with two parts fixed to the respective free ends of two operating cords of a blind; being shown the mentioned separate parts. lEi4oo21 —Figure 2 shows an elevation view of the tassel of the preceding figure in a mounting position and joined by the action ofthe magnetic attraction halves.
-Figure 3 shows a View of the two constitutive parts of the tassel, facing each other. spaced apart and sectioned by a vertical plan passing through the area of assembly of the magnetic attraction halves.
—Figurc 4 shows a similar View of the previous one, with the two parts in assembly position ofthe tassel.
Preferred making of the invention. in the illustrated example ofthe making, the tassel contains a first part. [1 a) and a second part [lb] attacllcd to the free ends of the respective operating cords [Zn and, 2b) ofa blind.
Parts [la and lb) show in facing surfaces on which are disposed in mutually opposite positions first halves [11a] and second halves [llb] of magnetic attraction, in this case constituted by respective pairs ofmagncts.
The first halves [1121] are mounted in a protruding position with respect to the surface of the first piece [la], while the second halves [1 lb] are housed in the bottom of some holes {12b} defined on the surface facing the second part (lb).
'I‘hese holes have a depth equal to the sum of the heights of the lirst and second halves (1121, 11b) of magnetic attraction, so that in the coupling position of the parts [13, 11)], the first halves [11a} of magnetic attraction of the first part (1a) are housed in the holes [12b] of the second piece [.113] acting as centering of parts (I a and lb) as shown in Figure '1-.
Having sufficiently described the nature of the invention, as well as an example of preferred production, we state for all appropriate purposes that the materials, shape, size and arrangement of the elements described can be modified, provided that this does not alter the essential features of the ilwention claimed below.
Claims (1)
1. Tassel for blind cords , comprising at least of a first piece [13] and a second piece { lb] independent, attached to respective free ends of operating cords [ 221. 2b] for blinds; and that show on the facing surfaces first halves [11a ] and second halves [ 11b } of magnetic attraction suitable for establishing the retention of the parts [1a, 1b] of the tassel {1} in a mounting position , to allow the separation of said parts [ 1a, 1b ) of the tassel [1} when between the two cords (23, 2b] 3 strength superior to the strength of the magnetic attraction of the said first and second halves (la, lb} applies; characterized because: - the first halves [lla ] of magnetic attraction are mounted in a protruding position with respect to the surface of said first part [ la]; - The second halves [ 11b ) of magnetic attraction are arranged in the bottom of some holes [ 12b ] defined on the facing surface of the second piece ( lb) presenting said holes ( 12b] an equal or superior depth to the sum of the heights of the first and second halves [ 11a, 11b ] of magnetic attraction of the opposite parts of the tassel. - The holes [ 12b ] ofthe second piece and the first halves [1121] of the first piece form complementary means of coupling and centering on the first and the second piece (121, lb] of the tassel { 1] in the mounting position 01' said tassel.
