Description

The invention relates to a hair dryer with a preferably tubular blowing case and a handle which can be deflected against the blowing case and which is attached to the blowing case.
The hand-held hairdryers (CH-PS 421.405) are already known, whose tubular blower housing has bearings extending transversely along the axis of the blower housing, to which swivel handles are attached, the handles being mounted on axles which are passed through the bearings.
A second type of electric hair dryer with a switch is known (DE-OS 27 35 420), whose tubular blowing case is partly enclosed by the fork-shaped end of the handle, the pivot axis running across and through the longitudinal axis of the blowing case.
Finally, an electric hair dryer in the shape of a pistol (DE-OS 25 28 056), with a case with a sliding handle, is known, which consists of two shell halves, each consisting of a blower motor housing and a hand-held housing, the hand-held housing and the blower motor housing being connected by interlocking in the centre of gravity of the blower motor housing.
The purpose of the invention is to design a hairdryer so that the outer dimensions of the apparatus are as small as possible at a given power level, and that the hairdryer can be placed in the smallest space, and that despite its outer dimensions it is a device which can operate in several power levels.
This problem is solved by the features of claim 1 of the present invention. Further advantageous designs are obtained by the features of the subclaims. The fact that the blower housing is equipped with a domed housing section extending transversely along the length of the housing axis, which accommodates the electrical circuit required for the control of the blower air temperature and the control of the speed of the blower motor, makes it possible to make the external dimensions of the blower housing extremely small. The entire interior of the hollow handle is thus available for the reception of the electrical power supply cable, so that, for example, the whole valve part gives a quaderne shape for the rotary handle.
Another advantage is that the electrical connection cable without a bending guard can be connected directly to the power supply in the domed housing, which also saves space, since the power supply cable cannot be damaged because the handle effectively prevents the cable from bending sharply.
Finally, it is advantageous that the electrical switch is located in the immediate vicinity of the fingers of the handle wall on the domed part of the housing, so that the device can be operated conveniently with one hand.
The innovation allows for a wide variety of embodiments, one of which is shown in detail in the accompanying figure: Figure 1 the hair dryer with attached handle and power cord in the handle in perspective view and Figure 2 the hair dryer as shown in Figure 1 together with the associated storage compartment, also in perspective view.
The hair dryer has a two-piece, essentially tubular housing 1, 2 with a domed housing 3, 4, 5 extending across the longitudinal axis s of the housing 1, 2 and the reverse connection to the tubular housing 1, 2 of the hair dryer, the main connection 5 is essentially semi-spherical. The domed housing 3, 4, 5 is equipped with a switch 6 to turn on and off the motor blower unit of the hand hair dryer.
The storage of the A-shaped detachable handle 7 consists of a bolt-shaped part designed as a voltage converter (hook 9, 10) The voltage converter is operated by turning the pin 9 fitted with a slot 11 for this purpose The hollow handle 7 is used to hold the electrical connection cable 12 and prevents the connection cable 12 directly inserted into the domed housing 3, 4, 5 from detaching
The semicircular connecting section 5 of the domed housing section 3, 4, 5 is fitted with grooves 13, 14 and 15, 16 respectively, to arrest the handle section 7 after it has been deflected to its operating position around the axis f (in the direction of the arrow A), with correspondingly shaped wedges (not shown in detail) on the inner wall of the handle section 7 in the area b and c' respectively.
As shown in Figure 2, the hairdryer is inserted into a housing 17 with a connecting cable 12 inserted into the handle 7 and fitted with a shaft 18 to be hung on a support wall.
The voltage converter 9, 10, 11 consists essentially of a casing suspended on a shaft, the casing and shaft being rotatable around their longitudinal axis but not moveable in their longitudinal axis.

Claims (6)

1. A hair dryer with a preferably tubular blower housing and a handle portion pivotally mounted on the blower housing and adapted to swivel relative to the blower housing, characterized in that the blower housing (1, 2) is equipped with a dome-shaped housing portion (3, 4, 5) extending transversely to the longitudinal axis (s) of the housing and accommodating at least part of an electric circuitry necessary for regulating the temperature of the air flow and the speed of the blower motor, said dome-shaped housing portion being directly connected to a power cord (12) and serving as bearing for the sleeve-shaped pivoted handle portion (7).
2. A hair dryer as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that pins (9, 10) providing the pivot axis (f) and engaged by the bearing lugs (8) of the sleeve-shaped handle portion (7) serving to store the power cord (12) are configured as electric switches, for example, as voltage selector switches.
3. A hair dryer as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the part (5) of the dome-shaped housing portion (3, 4, 5) remote from the blower housing (1, 2) is of substantially hemispherical configuration.
4. A hair dryer as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, characterized in that the dome-shaped housing portion (3, 4, 5) serves to receive the electric on/ off switch (6) and the voltage selector switch (9, 10).
5. A hair dryer as claimed in one or several of the preceding claims, characterized in that the dome-shaped housing portion (3, 4, 5) lies approximately in the region of the air inlet grille (19) of the motor-blower housing (1, 2), with the open end (20) of the handle portion (7) extending up to the region of the air exit grille (21) when in folded position.
6. A hair dryer as claimed in one or several of the preceding claims, characterized by a quiver (17) serving to store the hair dryer, said quiver having an eyelet (18) for hooking onto a wall, with the dimensions of the quiver (17) corresponding to those of the hair dryer when the handle portion (7) is in the folded position.
