Description
The invention relates to a method of participation in a lottery, a method of organizing a lottery, and devices for implementing such processes.
A lottery is defined as a game in which winnings are distributed to one or more winners selected at random through a draw among players who have paid a starting bet.
The term "bet" refers to the initial bet of one of the players.
The gain may also be a sum of money.
The current lottery organisations print a physical ticket to the bearer , i.e. a receipt serving as proof of the refund of a win.
The printing of tickets is usually carried out by participation points, which are made available to participants at points of sale.
However, such printed lottery tickets have drawbacks.
First, a paper ticket is at risk of being forged.
Secondly, paper printing has a high cost for the lottery organiser: a direct cost (paper used for each ticket) and an indirect cost (adaptation of the participation terminals for editing and reading).
Third, a ticket to bearer is by definition non-nominative, unrelated to the participant who purchased it.
Fourth, the lottery organiser cannot anonymously announce the winning to the participant.
Fifth, a lottery organization has no visibility into the gambling habits of the players, because the tickets are anonymous.
One purpose of the invention is to eliminate at least one of the disadvantages mentioned above.
To achieve this, the invention proposes a procedure for participating in a lottery involving the following steps implemented by a mobile terminal comprising an input interface and a secure element:
acquisition via the betting data entry interface, sending of acquired betting data to the lottery server system, receipt of a virtual lottery ticket generated by the lottery server system in response to the submission of the betting data, the virtual lottery ticket including a unique identifier of the bet placed, memorying of the virtual lottery ticket in a secure element memory.
The mobile terminal is a personal terminal of the user. The memory of the virtual lottery ticket in the terminal therefore creates a link between the ticket and the user.
In addition, as this is done in a secure part of the mobile terminal, the risks of counterfeiting the virtual ticket can be avoided.
The process may also be completed by the following steps, taken alone or in any of their technically possible combinations:
sending to a lottery server system a number of a subscriber specific to a card of a subscriber to a mobile network of the mobile terminal, receiving a configuration command of the secure element containing the number of the subscriber, allocating in the secure element a memory space from the configuration command received, establishing a near field communication channel with a relay terminal, with betting data being transmitted in the established channel for re-transmission by the relay terminal to the lottery server system;a comparison between a code entered via the input reference interface and a code stored by the secure element and the user of the mobile terminal;betting data being or not being issued to the lottery server system based on the result of the comparison;receiving a prize value issued by the lottery server system and associated with the unique identifier;displaying the prize value received on a screen of the mobile terminal;sending to the lottery server system a prize query containing the unique identifier stored by the secure element, receiving the prize value in response to the prize query;eliminating the virtual prize ticket stored in the secure storage in response to receiving a zero value prize ticket associated with the unique identifier,and/or receipt of a message indicating that a payment of a prize value associated with the unique identifier to a payee identified by the bet data has been made.
The second aspect of the invention is a lottery procedure characterized by the following steps implemented by a relay terminal:
receipt of betting data issued by a mobile terminal, transmission of the received data to a lottery server system, reception of a virtual lottery ticket generated by the lottery server system in response to the transmission, the virtual lottery ticket containing a unique identifier to identify the bet placed, printing from the betting data and/or the virtual lottery ticket of an invoice identifying the bet placed.
The process according to the second aspect of the invention may furthermore include steps of:
receipt of the unique identifier issued by the mobile terminal, sending to the lottery server of a prize request containing the unique identifier, receipt of a prize value associated with the unique identifier in response to the prize request, implementation of at least one of the following steps:
displaying the gain value on a relay terminal screen, transmitting the gain value to the mobile terminal, distributing a cash amount corresponding to the gain value stored in a relay terminal dispenser.
A third aspect of the invention also proposes a method of organizing a virtual lottery, comprising the following steps implemented by a lottery server system:
receipt of betting data issued by a mobile terminal with a secure element, generation of a virtual lottery ticket in response to receipt of the lottery ticket with a unique identifier to identify the bet placed, sending of the generated virtual lottery ticket to the mobile terminal for storage by the secure element.
A fourth aspect of the invention is that a mobile terminal is also proposed which comprises:
a betting data entry interface,a communication interface to communicate with a lottery server system,a secure element comprising a memory,a subscriber identification card to a mobile network, the card being associated with a subscriber number,at least one processing unit configured to command:
o the sending of the entered betting data to the lottery server system, the storage in the memory of the secure element of a virtual lottery ticket generated by the server in response to the transmission, received by the communication interface, the virtual lottery ticket including a unique identifier to identify the bet placed.
The secure element may include:
the mobile network subscriber ID card, or a trusted mobile terminal execution environment, or a removable memory card in relation to the mobile terminal.
A fifth aspect of the invention is a relay terminal comprising:
a communication interface suitable for:
receive betting data from a mobile terminal, transmit betting data to a lottery server system, receive a virtual lottery ticket generated by the server in response to the transmission, the virtual lottery ticket including a unique identifier to identify the bet placed,a printer, and a processing unit configured to command the printer to print an invoice identifying the bet placed, from the bet data and/or the virtual lottery ticket.
A sixth aspect is the proposed lottery server system, which includes:
a first communication interface to receive betting data issued by a mobile terminal with a secure element,at least one processing unit configured to generate a virtual lottery ticket in response to the receipt of the betting data, the virtual lottery ticket containing a unique identifier to identify the bet placed,a second communication interface to send the generated virtual lottery ticket to the mobile terminal for storage by the secure element.
This server system may also include a client relationship management server.
Other features, purposes and advantages of the invention will be shown by the following description, which is purely illustrative and not limitative and which must be read in conjunction with the attached drawings on which:
Figure 1 shows a schematic of a mobile terminal according to an embodiment of the invention.Figure 2 shows a schematic of a relay terminal according to an embodiment of the invention.Figure 3 shows a schematic of the devices depicted in Figures 1 and 2 and a lottery server system according to an embodiment of the invention.Figures 4 to 6 are organizational diagrams of a process of implementing a virtual lottery by the devices depicted in Figures 1 to 3, according to an embodiment of the invention.
In all the figures, similar elements have identical references.
As shown in Figure 1, a mobile terminal 1 shall comprise an input interface 2, a data processing unit 4, a display screen 6, a memory 8, a network communication interface 10, and a secure element 12.
The input interface 2 includes, for example, a keyboard and/or a touch screen and/or a mouse.
The data processing unit 4 is capable of receiving data entered by the input interface 2.
The data processing unit 4 is connected to the display screen 6 in order to display graphical data on this screen 6. The data processing unit 4 is also connected to memory 8 and is capable of writing data to memory 8 or reading data previously written to memory 8.
Memory 8 may include, for example, one or more hard drives and/or one or more SSDs and/or one or more EEPROMs and/or one or more flashes; such memory 8 may include at least one disk permanently housed in the mobile terminal 1 and/or at least one removable key e.g. with a USB connector.
Mobile terminal 1 also includes an operating system stored in memory 8 and executable by the processing unit 4. This operating system can cooperate with application programs, generally called applications , which can be installed in the mobile terminal independently of the operating system.
The network communication interface 10 is suitable for communication with another device nearby by a wireless or wired channel. The network communication interface 10 includes, for example, an NFC chip ( Near Field Communication in English) to establish a near field communication channel with another device. This mode of communication will be taken as a non-limiting example for the implementation of the invention.
As is well known, Secure Element 12 ( Secure Element from the Anglo-Saxon terminology, abbreviated SE), is an inviolable hardware platform, capable of securely hosting applications and storing confidential and cryptographic data.
The secure element 12 is typically a removable electronic card that is inserted into a mobile terminal housing. The secure element 12 is for example an electronic card in UICC or SIM format. The secure element is alternatively a removable memory card, for example in MicroSD format.
The secure element can alternatively present itself as a component of the mobile terminal, conventionally called Embedded Secure Element in English, or be a logical terminal element adapted to secure execution is the storage of applications and terminal data, conventionally called Trusted Execution Environment in English.
Regardless of its form, the secure item 12 can be protected by an encryption key specifically assigned to a holder of the secure item. Thus, where the secure item is a mobile network subscriber ID card, that encryption key can be a PIN.
The secure element 12 shall comprise a communication interface 16 adapted to communicate with the data processing unit 4 of mobile terminal 1, an internal processing unit 14 and an internal memory 18. The internal data processing unit 14 shall be connected to both the communication interface 16 and memory 18 of the secure element 12.
The mobile terminal 1 can take various forms: laptop, smartphone type mobile phone, tablet, etc.
For the purposes of Figure 2, a relay terminal 20 shall comprise a first communication interface 22, a second communication interface 24, a data processing unit 26, and a printer 28.
The first communication interface 22 is adapted to communicate with the communication interface 18 mobile terminal 1.
The second communication interface 24 is adapted to communicate with a lottery system 34 which will be described below.
The two communication interfaces 22, 24 may be of the same type, but the following are examples, without limitation, of communication interfaces 10 and 22 of the near field (NFS) type and of a communication interface 24 of the Wifi or wired type for communication with the lottery server system 34 over the Internet.
The relay terminal also includes a display screen 30.
The relay terminal also includes a cash dispenser 32 which conventionally includes a cash delivery port to a person and a cash delivery mechanism from a cashier suitable for storing cash in the form of banknotes and/or coins.
The processing unit 26 is suitable for controlling the cash machine.
The relay terminal may also include means of payment (not shown) This payment interface may include a bank card insert hole, and/or at least a cash inlet hole, and a suitable mechanism to drive cash into the cash box through this inlet hole.
The relay terminal 20 is, for example, a game terminal permanently installed in a lottery venue, such as a PMU bar.
Unlike mobile terminal 1, which can be personal, the relay terminal is intended to be used by several players.
In particular, the function of the relay terminal 20 is to act as a relay between mobile terminal 1 and a remote lottery server system 34.
The lottery server system 34 comprises:a central lottery management server 36, a betting storage and processing server 38, a transaction storage and data processing server 44 with functionalities to analyse players' gaming habits and set up marketing campaigns ( Customer Relationship Manager , conventionally abbreviated as CRM), two trusted servers (called Trusted Service Manager in English, abbreviated as TSM), including:
a 42 service provider server ( Service Provider , here abbreviated as SP-TSM), a 48 secure element issuer server ( Secure Element Issuer in English, here abbreviated as SEI-TSM).
The lottery management server 36 shall include an external communication interface capable of communicating with relay terminal 2 and/or directly with mobile terminal 1.
The lottery management server 36 also includes an internal communication interface to communicate with the storage server 38 and the service provider server 42.
The lottery management server 36 also includes means to host a website accessible from mobile terminal 1 and/or relay terminal 20.
The storage server 38 includes a memory 40 intended to store a betting database.
The service provider server 42 and 48 include means to establish a secure communication channel with the internal processing unit of the secure item housed in terminal 1. It is understood that this channel calls communications interfaces 16 and 10 or directly through 12 via OTA channel for example. This secure communication channel may also call relay terminal 20 and/or lottery management server 36. Alternatively, the service provider server calls directly to mobile terminal 1.
A function of the service provider server is to communicate lottery results to the relay terminal.
Server 44 provides a transaction analysis function, which allows users to analyze their habits and deliver advertising messages to them. It provides a CRM function. Server 44 may also be called a GRC server for Customer Relationship Management, and is adapted to communicate with server 36, and includes a memory 46.
The secure element management server 48 is connected to the service provider server 42.
A procedure for the implementation of a lottery by mobile terminal 1, relay terminal 20 and lottery system 34 will now be described.
To describe this process, the example of a secure element consisting of a SIM card associated with a mobile network subscriber number and a mobile terminal 1 of the smartphone type capable of communicating via this mobile network is given.
The process consists of a recruitment phase (A), a betting phase (B), and a result phase (C) whose implementation methods will be successively detailed.
In reference to Figure 4, in step 100, an application program A, named in the suite game application is downloaded into memory 8 of mobile terminal 1 from an application server.
The game application is adapted to cooperate with the operating system run by the processing unit 4 of the mobile terminal.
The gaming application can also be configured to interact with pages of the website run by the central lottery server 36.
In step 102, game application A then generates a request to register the mobile terminal user as a potential player in a future lottery organised by the lottery system, and sends this request to the lottery server system 34.
The registration request shall include data allowing the identification of a user of the mobile terminal: for example, the telephone number of the subscriber of that user and an identifier of his mobile network operator.
For example, this data may be entered by the user after a message inviting the user of terminal 1 to enter this data is displayed on screen 6 of terminal 1.
Application A commands the registration request to be sent to the lottery system, and more specifically to the SP-TSM 42 server.
The SEI-TSM server 42 generates a configuration command for the secure element 12 and communicates this configuration command to the SEI-TSM server, which either provides data to access the secure element or provides a connection to the secure element.
Servers 42 and/or 48 implement a verification of this data (steps Check Eligibility , Provisioning , Activation of the standard defined by the Global Platform or AFSCM Association).
The configuration command 104 is transmitted to secure element 12 by the SEI-TSM 48 and SP-TSM 42 servers.
This configuration command is received by the set A application installed in mobile terminal 1 and triggers a configuration 106 of secure element 12.
The configuration 106 of secure element 12 shall include:
a download from the server system of a game applet to be installed in the memory 18 of the secure element 12, an allocation of memory space in the internal memory 18 dedicated to storing data in relation to a lottery organised by the lottery server system 34; an installation of the applet downloaded into the allocated space in memory 18.
In this process, the secure element configuration 106 is implemented after the game application 100 has been fully downloaded, which avoids the implementation of a waiting mechanism in the applet for application A download.
Once the setup is complete, the lottery server system 34 sends a message confirming the player's registration. This message can be transmitted to the mobile terminal 1 via a dedicated message, for example an SMS or a personalized message. This message can be encrypted.
In this registration confirmation message, the user is informed that he is now registered with the lottery server system, that the content of the secure element is configured, and that he can therefore participate in a lottery organised by the system as a player, via the gaming application installed in the mobile terminal 1.
During these exchanges, the SP-TSM server 42 and the lottery server 36 inform the CRM server 44 of the addition of a new player.
All the data transmitted can be copied into and stored by the CRM 44 server. Thus, the CRM 44 server can identify gambling habits associated with a phone number. For example: the phone number 0606060606 plays every Friday 10 Euros, and on Friday 13 it plays 20 Euros. Thus the lottery will be able to send him an SMS on Thursday 12 so that he does not forget or indicate bigger bets and therefore bigger winnings on Tuesday.
The player is assumed to have identified a lottery in which he wishes to participate, via an app menu displayed on the screen of his mobile device.
As shown in Figure 5, the player enters 202 of the data representative of a bet using the input interface of the mobile terminal 1.
a combination of characters or symbols chosen from a set of possible combinations, e.g. a series of numbers, possibly a bet amount, (otherwise, the bet amount is determined by application A), and/or a possible bet type, if the lottery allows several types of bet.
In addition, the game application commands the display of a message inviting the player to enter an authentication code, in order to authenticate the bet.
The application receives the authentication code entered by the player and compares it with a predetermined reference code.
If the two codes are identical, then application A will allow the bet data 206 to be transmitted to relay terminal 20.
When a player with his mobile terminal 1 is in the vicinity of relay terminal 20, game application A commands 200 to establish a near field communication channel C between secure element 12 and relay terminal 20.
Once channel C is established, mobile terminal 1 transmits the bet data entered to relay terminal 20, so it is understood that bet data entered before channel C is established may be temporarily stored by mobile terminal 1 or secure element 12.
Application A also displays a message inviting the player to pay 208 of the bet using methods known to the professional. e.g. payment 208 can be initiated via the built-in payment means of the relay terminal 20.
After this payment, the relay terminal 20 transmits the bet data to the lottery server system 34.
The storage server 38 stores the betting data in the database 40, possibly accompanied by other information such as:
the date of the bet,the date of the lottery draw for which the player has bet, and/or player authentication.
The storage server 38 generates a message 212 containing the bet data and the associated telephone number, which is sent to the TSM server 42 and the TSM server 44.
The generated virtual lottery ticket is transmitted 214 to mobile terminal 1 by the SP-TSM 42 server. The transmission 214 of the lottery ticket to mobile terminal 1 can be done via relay terminal 20 or without going through relay terminal 20.
The virtual lottery ticket is stored 216 in the space allocated in the internal memory 18 of the secure element 12, this space being previously created during the registration phase.
The player holding the mobile terminal 1 has at this stage a virtual voucher to bear, proving his participation in the lottery by the bet he placed via that same mobile terminal 1.
To alert the player to the existence of this proof, the SP-TSM 42 server may send a dedicated SMS or message to mobile terminal 1 reminding the player of his bet and announcing it as officially valid.
The lottery ticket may also be transmitted to the relay terminal 20 in which case the processing unit 26 of the relay terminal 20 may order the printing of an invoice via the printer 28 which may serve as additional proof of participation in the lottery, in addition to the storage 216 of the virtual lottery ticket in the secure element 12.
In addition, the generated virtual lottery ticket is stored in transaction memory 42 . The virtual lottery ticket can then be retrieved by the player in the event of theft or loss of his mobile terminal 1 or secure element 12 by means of an appropriate loading request from his (new) mobile terminal.
The same steps in the betting phase B) are implemented by several players, with different mobile terminals.
Each bet placed and the unique transaction numbers are stored in database 40 and/or memory 46.
The transaction numbers for the different bets for the same lottery are all different so as to identify a bet with certainty.
It is assumed that a draw has been made, which is translated into the lottery server system 34 by an association, into the database 40, of each stored bet with a corresponding positive or zero win value.
It is also assumed that the player holding terminal 1 is after the draw in the vicinity of a relay terminal 20 (the same as that used for betting, or another relay terminal also connected to the lottery server system 34) and that a communication channel C has been established between mobile terminal 1 and that relay terminal (step 200).
In reference to Figure 6, in step 300, application A commands the sending of a win request for the bet placed to the lottery server system 34.
The winning request shall include, for example, the unique transaction number included in the virtual lottery ticket stored in secure element 12.
This 300-send can be triggered at the player's initiative, via a dedicated menu generated by Application A and displayed on screen 6 of the mobile terminal 1.
The sending of the win request 300 may also be conditioned on the positive outcome of an authentication such as authentication 204 described in the betting phase B).
The request for a win is then relayed by relay terminal 20 to lottery system 34, and more specifically to the storage server 38.
The storage server 38 looks for a gain value associated with the unique transaction number.
This gain value is then transmitted 304 by the lottery server system to relay terminal 20 and/or mobile terminal 1.
The sending of the 304 win value can also be triggered automatically by the lottery server system 34 following the draw.
When the gain value is received by the relay terminal 20, the processing unit 26 commands the gain value received to be displayed on the display screen 30.
The payout of a sum corresponding to the value of the prize is then made to the player, if the value of the prize is greater than zero.
For example, it may be envisaged that payment will be made in cash, using cash previously stored in the cash register 32 of the distributor integrated in the relay terminal 20
Alternatively, payment is made by bank transfer, by requesting bank websites, using a known method.
Application A then commands the virtual lottery ticket 310 to be erased from memory 18 of secure element 12.
This erasure 310 can be triggered immediately upon receipt by applying a gain value that turns out to be zero.
This erasure 310 can also be triggered when a message is received indicating that a payment of a win value associated with the unique identifier to a beneficiary identified by the bet data has been made. This message can be issued by the relay terminal 20 when the latter pays, via its integrated distributor, the owner of the mobile terminal 1. However, the erasure will preferably always be controlled from the application 42 which keeps the contents of the memory of the secure element updated.
The method of implementing a virtual lottery proposed here offers many advantages:
removing the paper ticket to the bearer (the proof of betting is electronic) achieving certain economic gains by removing the paper, authenticating the player when he goes to collect his winnings. Thus, even if his mobile phone is stolen, the thief will not be able to collect the winnings.in case of loss or theft of the mobile, the player will be able to have his proof of betting sent again, stored by the lottery server system.the player is authenticated but remains anonymous.
