Description
Technical Field
Pantyhose (pantyhose) suitable for an enlarged range of sizes such as plus-sizes and pregnant women are disclosed which are knitted (knotted) to include a panty body (panty) with front and back portions of different sizes.
Background
The plus size is a generic term for clothing for larger individuals (e.g., women over 14, men over XL). In the united states, more than 30% of the total base of consumers may be characterized as a plus sign, rising at a rate of 2% per year. Similarly, in europe, on average 23% of consumers are characterised by a plus size, with 47% of the female population in the uk being in the top 14, followed by 29% in germany. In developing countries, the population of such sizes is growing rapidly, such as in china and brazil at an annual growth rate of about 5%.
It is difficult for a large woman to find a suitable hosiery garment (hosiery garment), i.e. pantyhose. Current hosiery garments are often undesirable due to the presence of built-in panels (build in panels) and/or cause discomfort to the wearer. As a result, many women in this size range choose to wear shorts/pants (troussers) without pantyhose.
Disclosure of Invention
Pantyhose in certain aspects provide a solution to the undesirable and uncomfortable characteristics of currently available upsized hosiery (hosiery). Certain aspects of pantyhose form asymmetric tubes by knitting (knotting) separate leg portions that, when assembled, provide a pantyhose front portion and then a different pantyhose back portion, which eliminates the need for additional sheets (panels) for the hosiery. This provides hosiery that accommodates differently sized women who may have large hips (porterior region) or, if pregnant, large stomachs (mammy).
In one aspect, an article of manufacture comprises a pantyhose comprising:
(a) a right leg portion including a right panty portion at an upper end and a right toe portion at an opposite end; and
(b) a left leg portion including a left panty portion at an upper end and a left toe portion at an opposite end;
wherein each of the right leg portion and the left leg portion each form an asymmetric tube;
the right panty portion having a front and a back;
the left panty portion has a front and a back; and
the front portion of the right side torso portion and the front portion of the left side torso portion have different fabric constructions than the back portion of the right side torso portion and the back portion of the left side torso portion, respectively.
In another aspect, a method of making a pantyhose comprises:
(a) knitting a right leg portion including a right panty portion;
(b) separately knitting a left leg portion including a left panty portion; and
(c) connecting said right leg portion and said left leg portion;
wherein each of the right leg portion and the left leg portion each form a tube;
the right panty portion having a front and a back;
the left panty portion has a front and a back; and
the front portion of the right side torso portion and the front portion of the left side torso portion have different fabric constructions than the back portion of the right side torso portion and the back portion of the left side torso portion, respectively.

Detailed Description
The term "spandex" as used herein refers to a rayon (manufactured filament) in which the filament-forming substance is a long-chain synthetic polymer comprising at least 85% by weight of segmented polyurethane (segmented polyurethane). For certain aspects of the pantyhose, various spandex compositions are useful, such as, inter alia, polyether and copolyether based spandex. Specific examples of commercially available spandex yarns (yarn) include those available from Wichiata, KS under the trademark LYCRA S.l.162B and LYCRA902C. As used herein, the term "asymmetric" as applied to leg tubes (leg tubes) or the body portion of a tube, or body portion of a pantyhose, refers to different fabric configurations for providing a front portion and a back portion or each body.
Certain aspects of the pantyhose articles are knitted from two separate tubes that are joined to form the finished pantyhose. The two tubes may be connected in any suitable manner, such as by suturing. The points of attachment in fig. 1 are shown in the front (18A, 18B) and back (16A, 16B) portions and correspond to the seams (16, 18) of the finished pantyhose article shown in fig. 2.
Referring to FIG. 1, an asymmetric tube is shown corresponding to a right leg section 2A and a left leg section 2B. The right leg portion 2A includes a right panty portion 4A at an upper end and a right toe portion 22A at an opposite end, and the left leg portion 2B includes a left panty portion 4B at an upper end and a left toe portion 22B at an opposite end. The right panty portion 4A has a front 8A and a back 10A, and the left panty portion 4B has a front 8B and a back 10B. The front (8A, 8B) and back (10A, 10B) portions define asymmetric portions because they have different compression areas resulting from different yarn/fabric constructions, which eliminates the need for additional sheet stock. By asymmetric, it is meant that the front portions (8A, 8B) have a different fabric structure or are otherwise different from the rear portions (10A, 10B) on either side of the illustrated centre line (20A, 20B). The centerlines (20A, 20B) represent an invisible line between the anterior and posterior portions of the asymmetric tube, which otherwise represents a line of symmetry. This is achieved by having a rear portion (10A, 10B) of yarn providing a lower compression than the front portion (8A, 8B) for upsized pantyhose, or by having a lower compression in the front portion (8A, 8B) for pregnant pantyhose.
The waistband (6A, 6B) of the pantyhose can comprise any suitable structure. To prevent or reduce the curling of the waistband, it may include a structure other than a folded over waistband, and may include a single layer of fabric. To further reduce the curling of the waistband, the pant portions (4A, 4B) may be designed to extend above the waist of the wearer (not shown).
The pantyhose can include any suitable combination of elastic or elastomeric yarns and hard yarns. Elastomeric yarns may be included in each course (court) or in alternating courses (court) (other constructions may be useful where patterned hosiery is desired). One suitable elastomeric yarn is spandex, which may be used bare or covered. Examples of hard yarns include polyamide yarns such as nylon 6, nylon 6/6, nylon 10, nylon 12, nylon 6/10, nylon 6/12, and combinations thereof. The hard yarn may be straight (flat) or textured. The pantyhose can include a yarn selected from the group consisting of polyamide-covered spandex yarn and a blend of polyamide-covered spandex yarn and polyamide yarn.
To further enhance the comfort of the wearer, the body portion of the pantyhose can include only sheer yarns (sheelyarns) to have reduced compression. The reduction or elimination of compression is achieved by using a transparent yarn or a lighter denier yarn, and may also be achieved by reducing the spandex fiber content in the panty portion. The front and back portions of the pant body may include different yarns that change compression between the front and back portions, or in a portion of the front or back portions. For example, the yarns in the bottom of the pant portion (4A, 4B) closest to the crotch portion 12 may provide lower compression than the yarns near the waistband 6. The yarn/fabric structure may vary depending on the desired compression effect. The top row (13A, 13B, as shown in fig. 1) (closest to the waistband 6) may have a different yarn than the bottom row (11A, 11B, as shown in fig. 2) (closest to the crotch 12) for either the front (8A, 8B) or the back (10A, 10B) of the pant portion. This can be up to the top 50% to about 90% of the top row, including about 70% to about 85% of the top row of the pant portion. The bottom row (11A, 11B, as shown in fig. 2) may optionally include yarns having a higher denier or provide a heavier weight fabric to provide additional support at that portion of the garment.
Suitable amounts of spandex fiber can be from about 10% to about 30%, including from about 12% to about 26%, and from about 15% to about 22%, by weight of the total yarn.
To provide additional comfort, the left and right leg portions may include yarns having the same denier or a heavier denier than the yarns in the left and right panty portions. Conversely, the leg portions (left and right sides) may have a structure selected from transparent (sheet), translucent (semi-opaque) and opaque (opaque). To further enhance comfort and reduce wearer pain, the right and left leg portions may each include an upper thigh portion 14, wherein the upper thigh portion includes strength yarns (reinforcing yarns).
The features and advantages of the present invention are more fully apparent from the following examples, which are provided by way of illustration and should not be construed to limit the invention in any way.
