The invention relates to new training sequences with optimized cross-correlation for use in cellular mobile communications.

The present invention is based on the task of developing sequences with equally favourable autocorrelation properties but improved cross-correlation properties.

The invention is illustrated by drawings showing: Fig. 1 the auto and cross correlation properties of the known GSM training sequences; and Fig. 2 these properties of the training sequences according to the invention.
Figure 1 shows the normalised autocorrelation (AKF) of the training sequence TS0 and the normalised cross-correlations (KKF) of the sequences TSO-TS1 and TS0-TS2.
Figure 2 shows the autocorrelation (AKF) of the new sequence TSn0 and the cross-correlation (KKF) of the sequences TSn0-TSn1.While the autocorrelation function shows no difference between the conventional and new training sequences, the cross-correlation of the new sequences is both smaller and more evenly distributed, which leads to higher reliability in the use of these training sequences in GSM, especially for adaptive antennas and room multiplexes.

- Use of the sequences TSn0: 1 0 1 0 0 0 0 1 1 1 1 0 1 0 0 1 1 0 1 0 0 0 0 1 1 1, TSn1: 0 1 1 1 1 1 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 1 0 1 1 1 1 1 0 1 0 0 as training sequences in cellular mobile radiotelephony, specially GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications).
