Technical Field

The invention relates to a gift box.

Background

Among the gifts sold, the merchant is to display the gift in an attractive manner and add value to the gift by satisfying the customer's needs at airports and gift shops visited by travelers. During travel, people often need to buy gifts to reach friends and relatives. However, if airport luggage is restricted, it is inconvenient to transport a large number of gifts. Also, if the gift includes metal pieces, the wrapped gift may need to be opened and inspected, causing travel delays. Merchants can add value to the gift by displaying the gift in an attractive package that can then be mailed to the recipient. The packaging can allow the presentation itself to be displayed, the gift to be wrapped, and the ability to be mailed to a recipient. Such a packaged item would ideally be easy to immediately mail to the addressee.

Disclosure of Invention

The present invention is a gift box including an inner box for holding a gift. The inner case includes a transparent top surface through which the displayed items can be viewed. The inner case may be entirely transparent, for example a vinyl case. The inner box may include a metal display article and/or card.

The inner case is packed into the outer case. The outer box is a mailing box into which the inner gift holding box is inserted. The mailing box includes a cutout positioned such that when the gift holding box is inserted into the mailing box, an observer can see an item contained in the gift box through the cutout and through the transparent top surface of the gift holding box. In one embodiment, the cut is a removable opaque panel that can be inserted into the interior of the mailing box, over the transparent top surface of the gift holding box, between the gift holding box and the mailing box. The removable opaque plate may include printed matter such as "send to" and "send from" portions and several lines that allow a sender to address the box for mailing. Alternatively, the mailing information is printed on the mailing box. In another embodiment, the bottom surface of the inner box may be printed for mailing. After the display, the inner box can be turned over to display the printed content. The printing may be on the inner box itself or on a card inserted into the inner box.

Detailed Description

Referring to FIG. 1, in one embodiment gift display box 10 includes a transparent top surface through which display item 16 and/or card 12 and envelope 14 are visible. The gift display box may be a vinyl box that is transparent on all sides. The case may include a top and a bottom, which are separable, for opening the case. The box may be closed with tape or other means. The sender can write the gift card and place it and the gift in the gift box. The gift display box may include a display board on which small metal engravings or other small items, such as books, stationery, jewelry, scarves, pens, bookmarks, candy or nuts, may be mounted.

Gift display box 10 is enclosed within outer mailing box 26, and gift display box 10 fits snugly within the outer mailing box. Flap 28 may then be closed to secure display box 10 within mailing box 26. A cut-out 30 in outer mailing box 26 allows display box 10 to be seen through mailing box 26. The merchant may have the option of displaying the displayed item in display box 10 or in mailing box 26, separately on the display board. The mailing box may also be shown separately. Graphical decorative content may also be printed on mailing box 26. The graphic decoration also allows the item to be used as a promotional item package, a money-raising product, a corporate gift, or an advertising item. Advertising or community logos may be printed on the outside of the package. Decorating the outer box would not require wrapping the box.

A removable opaque panel 18 is mounted within outer mailing box 26 over transparent top surface 15 of display box 10. The plate 18 may also include a sender identification line 22, a recipient identification line 20, a graphic indication 24 to affix a stamp, for example. The box may be sold with postage stamps or postage total payment count stamps already on the card. This allows the purchaser to simply address and register the cartridge on the cartridge. This allows mailing without waiting, providing convenience to customers. The postage stamp area may be preprinted with volume rates and mailing allowances to simplify the mailing process. This will reduce postal costs and may not require weighing and sorting of each box. The panel 18 may be removed for display of the gift box and then inserted for mailing of the gift box.

Fig. 2 shows an expanded view of the outer mailing box. The top 29 of the sleeve has a cut-out 30 so that it can be viewed through the cut-out 30. The sides 32, 34 of the box are folded down along the dashed lines. The back of the box has an end flap which can be positioned by folding and gluing to the side 32. The end flaps 27, 28 are then folded to close the box. In this embodiment, on the back of the box there is a sender identification line 22, a recipient identification line 20 and a graphic indication 24 to apply the stamp.

Fig. 3 shows another embodiment of the present invention. Likewise, the outer box includes a flap 28 and a display window 30 that can enclose the box. The inner display box 10 may be inserted into the outer box 26 so that the display items 14 and 16 are visible through the transparent top surface 15 on the box 10. In this embodiment, the bottom surface 17 of the cassette 10 includes printing on a surface of the cassette or on a piece of paper inserted into a transparent cassette. In this embodiment, the inner display case may simply be flipped over and inserted into the outer case for mailing. The user then fills in the "send to" and "send from" sections printed on the surface 17 or views through the surface.

Claims (1)

1. An apparatus for displaying a gift suitable for mailing comprising:

an inner box of rectangular cross-section having opposite top and bottom portions and sized to receive a gift therein, said inner box having a transparent wall through which said gift is visible;

an outer casing having opposed top and bottom portions, having dimensions to allow the inner casing to fit snugly through an end of the outer casing interposed between the top and bottom portions, the outer casing having a cut-out region at the top portion through which the inner casing is visible; and

a panel for displaying mailing information, the panel fitting inside the outer box and behind the inner box when not in use and remaining within the outer box when used for mailing to block the cut out area so that the mailing information is visible and the gift is not visible.
