Abstract

A glass screen is supported by an arrangement of parallel upright pillars. The screen consists of a series of rectangular panes, secured at their corners by forward-projecting holding fixtures which are anchored to the pillars and having an approx. X- or Y-shaped arrangement of retaining pads.

Description

The invention relates to an arrangement for attaching sheet metal, in particular glass panes, with support columns or supports, fitted with at least one longitudinal cut-out nut for attaching attachments, open to the outside, and at least one holder for the sheet metal.
It is known that, in particular, in exhibition buildings, stands or cross-supports (Octanorm® exhibition building system) are used, which are fitted with longitudinally open longitudinal slits, cut outwards, into which connecting components can be inserted and clamped by means of so-called latches, which can be inserted with hooked ends into the open slit of the longitudinal slits from the outside and then clamped with their hooks behind the edges of the longitudinal slits by means of latch centers. See, for example, US-A-4,360,286.
It is also known, for example, see DE-U-93 02 820, to place glass panes in front of supporting frames made of vertical and horizontal components, using holders with pins at one end, which are inserted into holes in the glass panes and are held in this position by closing caps placed from the outside. These holders are usually fitted at the other end with a fastening flange and are either screwed or welded with it. The disadvantage of such fastenings is that the installation of the holders in a position precisely aligned with the surroundings.
The present invention is therefore based on the task of training a holder of the type described at the outset to enable the simple and rapid attachment of glass panes to racks which also allow the glass panes to be aligned subsequently.
To meet this requirement, the holder of the type mentioned at the beginning shall be provided with a supporting end for the supporting columns or supports consisting of a flat first plate, of a thickness less than the width of the open slit of the longitudinal nut, and having at its outer edge a supporting end parallel to that opening, of a width greater than the material strength of the supporting columns or supports in the slit area, and a second plate, which is mirror-like to the first plate and is capable of securing the form closure between the first plate and the longitudinal nut in connection with the first plate.
This design provides a simple way of inserting the holder with its support plate from the outside into the slot of the longitudinal nut, of bringing the holder nut over one of the edges of the slot and of securing this resulting uniform position by inserting a second plate, arranged in a mirror-like manner, first inserted axially from the first plate into the longitudinal nut in the manner described above and then moved along the other edge of the slot with its support plate, until it has covered the first plate. In further development of the invention, the second plate may be, for example, the attachment end of another holder. The first and second plates may be held in their aligned position by at least one first screw and it is possible to place at least one pressure organ in the area between the first screw and the support knots of at least one plate, with which the adjacent ends of the plates can be separated. This allows the plates, as described above, to be fixed at the longitudinal knots in a similar way to the tensioners mentioned at the beginning. The new holder therefore makes it very easy to install, especially if the pressure organ is formed as a pressure screw which can be easily operated with a tool.
Of course, it is possible that one or both of the fasteners may have one or two support arms for fixing glass panels.
The invention is illustrated by examples of the drawings and illustrations shown below. 1a schematic view of a partition made of vertical support columns and glass panels,Fig. 2a magnified view of sections II to II by one of the holders of the partition in Fig. 1,Fig. 3a view of the holder in Fig. 2 towards the third column in Fig. 1,Fig. 4a reduced view of the side view of the holder in Fig. 2 towards the fourth column,Fig. 5a view of a holder with two mounting arms,Fig. 6a view of the sides of the holder in Fig. 5 similar to the view in Fig. 4,Fig. 7a view of half a holder in Fig. 3, which is combined with a mounting plate in Fig. 8 or Fig. 8a view of a holder in a stand-up position and a mounting plate in Fig. 8 or Fig. 8a view of the holder in a stand-up position.
Figure 1 shows a schematic representation of a partition consisting of five vertical support columns 1 and 2 square panes of glass fixed to these columns by means of holders 3, 3a, 3b, 3c and 3d, each of which is shown in Figures 2 to 9.
Figure 2 shows first that the support columns 1 are those each having at least one, but preferably several, longitudinal notches 4 evenly distributed on the perimeter, the width of which is greater than a slit 5 open to the outside, so that a cut-off nut is obtained at the edges of which the holders 3 and 3a to 3d can be fitted in a uniform manner.
For this purpose, as shown in Fig. 2, the holders are fitted with a supporting arm 6 at the free end of which is provided with a bolt arrangement 8 suitable for penetrating a hole 7 in a glass plate, which, by working with a countercap 9 enables the glass plate 2 to be securely anchored. The width is chosen to be large enough to accommodate the edge of slot 5. The nut 13 is also provided with such a depth that after placement of plate 10 into slot 4, as shown in Fig. 2, the lateral surface of plate 10 coming to the installation with a second plate 10a lies in a plane 11 representing the median longitudinal plane of slot 4.The second plate 10a of the second holder 6a is now axially moved into groove 4 in the same way and, after its groove 13 (not separately marked in Fig. 2) is also placed over the edge of slot 5 but is mirrored to the plane 11, moved axially until it reaches the cover of plate 10 of the first holder 6. In this position, the two plates 10 and 10a are secured by a screw 14. If the depth of the groove 13 is chosen so that in the position shown in Fig. 2 there is still enough play for both plates 10 and 10a in slot 5,The two supports 6 and 6a can be moved easily along the length of the nut 4 until the final mounting position is reached. This is then secured by means of one or two pressure screws 16 which are attached to one of the plates and support themselves on the other.
Figures 3 and 4 show the holder 3 of Figure 1, which is made up of two overlapping holders 6 and 6a, each with two support arms as shown in Figure 2.
Figures 7 to 9 show, on the other hand, a variant of the holders in the form 3a and 3c (Fig. 1), each consisting of one or two holders 6 and a mounting plate 10 which are brought into contact with a holder 18 which is similar in structure to the holders 10 and 10a and also - Fig. 9 - has a holding nut 13 in the area of its outer edge 18a.
The invention therefore opens up several possibilities for the formation of glass plate holders which can be used to fix one, two or more glass plates, but all of which have the advantage that their assembly - and of course also disassembly - can be carried out in the simple manner described in Fig. 2 using the longitudinal nuts in the attachment parts.
