Abstract

he disclosed herein arrangement exploits the wave energy dynamic caused by the height difference of the water column (pressure difference between wave crest and trough) with the purpose of converting this dynamic into another form of energy (power and work generation) or extracting wave energy by balancing the difference of the water column height and the effects of the waves normal barrage. The arrangement is composed of a conduit bearing on its shell openings with in-series non-return valves1,2,3,4,5,6 fitted therein; the conduit is separated into two sections (the inlet section A with the inlet valves 1,2,3 and the outlet section B with the outlet valves 4,5,6), said non-return valves being adequately adapted to allow the unidirectional flow of water through conduit. The operation of the arrangement develops as follows: when a wave crest is rising over one of the inlet valves 1,2,3, this valve opens and water is flowing through the conduit; when a wave trough or crest of smaller height is raising over one of the outlet valves 4,5,6, the process is continuously repeated until the difference of the water column height between the inlet and outlet valves becomes balanced. This operational process leads to the following results:a) point collapse of the wave crest over the valve of the section A and point collapse of the wave trough over the valve of the section B; b) unidirectional flow of water into the conduit from section A to section B. The arrangement in question can be used for the normal barrage of waves with the purpose of protecting coasts, harbors, and floating constructions, reforming coasts, and generating power or any other kind of work.
