Abstract

The invention relates to a hinge that connects the two metallic parts (top and bottom) of an electric toaster- grill. The hinge consists of two basic assemblies of plastic components (Fig. 1/Nos. 1 & 2), one of which is on the bottom part of the appliance and the other on the top part. According to the invention the hinge of the electric toaster-grill is designed and formed such that it offers the following advantages: protection against dislocation of the parts of the appliance during movement to various working positions, protection of the electric conductors in the joint area and along their entire path, complete rigidity of the appliance when it is moved with its two metallic parts open at 90 degrees, the use of the female hinge portion also as an electrical junction box, the use of the bottoms of the lower female hinges as a winding reel for the power lead, a special manner of fixing the hinges to the body which ensures attachment even in the worst circumstances and, finally, the avoidance of extra fasteners on the two handles.
