Abstract
A primer composition comprises a non-aqueous liquid medium containing a pigment comprising, as a ferrous corrosion inhibitor, calcium phosphate and zinc oxide. The liquid media mentioned are drying oils, drying oil alkyd resins, styrenated and vinyl toluenated alkyd resins, modified phenolic resin/tung/ linseed oleoresinous media comprising a mixture of phenolic resin and rosin cooked into a tung/ linseed oil, dispersion resin/alkyd resin combinations wherein the dispersion resin is a tung oil phenolic resin metallic soap complex dispersed in a solvent, amine-formaldehyde resins/ plasticizing resin stoving combinations, butyl titanate, butyl titanate/silicone resin combinations, polyurethane, epoxide resin/amine or polyamine systems, chlorinated rubber, ester copal/linseed oil, linseed stand oil/acid refined linseed oil/pale boiled linseed oil, 62 1/2 % oil length linseed oil pentaerythritol alkyd resin (dark boiled linseed oil)/linseed/tung stand oil)/ (zinc and calcium rosinates/linseed oil)/(modified phenolic/linseed/tung oil oleoresinous medium), and 50% oil length oleoresinous ester copal/linseed oil medium. Other components of the priming composition include titanium dioxide, calcium plumbate, bauxite, lithopone, litharge, cobalt hydroxide, cobalt and lead naphthenates and aluminium stearate.ALSO:A primer composition comprises a non-aqueous liquid medium containing a pigment comprising, as a ferrous corrosion inhibitor, calcium phosphate and zinc oxide.
