Abstract
998,178. Bobbin supporting devices. WHITIN MACHINE WORKS. Sept. 26, 1963 [Oct. 5, 1962], No. 37968/63. Heading D1J. As the bobbin 29, Fig. 1, is pushed upwardly on to the bobbin holder 10 it pushes against the inclined surface 36 of a slide 31, Fig. 2, freely movable in an inclined slot 30 in the holder 10. The slide 31 is thus forced to move upwardly in the slot to retract its projecting end 34 and permit the bobbin holder 10 to move to the position shown in broken lines in Fig. I. The slide 31 then drops down to the position shown to engage under a shoulder 37 of the bobbin 29 and so support the bobbin 29. To remove the bobbin 29 it is first raised to the position shown in Fig. 2, thin action causing the bobbin 29 to push against the inclined surface 32 of the slide 31 and so raise the slide to the setting shown in Fig. 2. The bobbin 29 is then pulled downwardly off the holder 10 before the slide 31 has a chance to slide downwardly to a setting in which the end 34 thereof again projects from the holder 10. The axis of the lower portion 13 of the holder 10 is offset by about three degrees with respect to the vertical axis of the upper portion 11.
