A grill floor, or like grill structure comprises spaced bars 12 placed parallel to one another with acts of aligned slots or openings in the bars through which transverse tie strips are threaded, every other portion 15 of the tie strips that recurs between pairs of consecutive bars being twisted in one direction while the remaining portions 16 between pairs of consecutive bars are twisted in the opposite direction. The top edges 17 of the twisted portions are proud of the top edges of the bars 12.
