Abstract

996,830. Leak-testing apparatus. N. C. HARRISON. Dec. 11, 1962 [Dec. 12, 1961], No. 44342/61. Heading G1S. [Also in Division B8] Vessels containing pressure fluid e.g. aerosols are tested for leaks by passing them on a conveyer 11 through a fluid bath 9 retaining means e.g. a spring member 13 being provided to hold the aerosols on the conveyer while they pass through the bath. The retaining means may alternatively be resilient hooks or biased upstanding members attached to the container. Preferably the aerosol containers rotate as they pass through the bath, but are only partly submerged. A window 14 is provided so that bubbles escaping through leaks may be seen. The aerosol containers are heated in a chamber, by means of a hot spray, before being immersed in the bath 9 to increase the internal pressure and are dried after immersion.
