Abstract

996,557. Machine tool details. STANLEY WORKS (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd. March 23, 1964 [April 4, 1963], No. 13457/63. Headings B3B and B3C. A brace chuck comprises an externally screwed member 1, a serrated steel bush 8 driven into member 1, slots 9 in the bush for locating jaws 2, and a hollow shell 3 screwed on to member 1 for contracting the jaws. Bush 8 has a tapered slot 10 for an auger bit, and the jaws are made from spring steel. In a modification, Fig. 3, the jaws are formed by a gripping portion 20b, which may be of powdered or sintered metal, and a spring steel leg 20a secured thereto by an aluminium rivet 21.
