Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:0996256/C2/1> wherein R is a hydrogen atom or a benzhydryl, diphenylacetyl <FORM:0996256/C2/2> radical, wherein X and Y are each a hydrogen atom or a di-(alkyl)amino, carboxy, carboxyalkyl, phenyl, chlorophenyl bromophenyl, di-(alkyl)-aminophenyl, alkyl, alkoxyphenyl, or benzyl radical wherein the alkyl, alkoxy, and alkylene radical radicals each contain 1-6 carbon atoms, inclusive and non-toxic salts thereof. These compounds are obtained by condensing 17a - alkyl - 17b - hydroxy - 5a -androstan-3-one with hydroxylamine or an appropriately O-substituted hydroxylamine. Alternatively, the (substituted-oxy) imino compounds may be obtained by reacting the hydroxyimino derivatives with a suitable alkylating or acylating agent.
