Abstract

Hollow rubber articles, such as gloves, are made with a roughened surface by a method which comprises dipping a suitably shaped former in a rubber solution, dispersion or latex or a solution or dispersion of synthetic rubber or plastics material, roughening the surface of the deposited coating by treatment with a solvent, and using the former coated with a roughened coating as the former in a dipping process for the production of hollow articles. Preferably the coating is hardened either before or after roughening preferably by vulcanizing.
