[Also in Division H2] A tapping machine comprises a drilling machine adapted as shown, and driven by an electric motor 20 controlled by a circuit whereby, when the motor torque reaches a predetermined value, the motor is automatically reversed at high speed for a time depending on the set value, and then proceeds in the forward direction at the controlled speed (see Division H2). Upper and lower limit switches 17, 18 are operated by a cam 19 on the advancement spindle 16; both these switches effect reversal.
