Abstract

Natural rubber latex is preserved against bacterial degradation by the addition thereto of (a) free ammonia in an amount of 0.05 to 1% by weight and (b) a monohaloacetic acid, or a water-soluble salt thereof in an amount of at least 0.001% by weight thereof. Specified are monoiodoacetic acid and ammonium monoiodoacetate.
