Abstract

973,686. Fluid pressure brakes. D.B.A. S.A. March 29, 1963 [March 30, 1962], No. 12657/63. Heading F2F. In a pneumatic servomotor for operating brakes wherein a vacuum suspended spring- loaded diaphragm 18 separates a vacuum chamber 14 and a variable pressure chamber 16 and the latter is connected at 68 to a valve control chamber 66 which for brake release communicates via a valve 92 with a vacuum chamber 64 connected at 62 to the chamber 14 and for brake engagement communicates via a valve 80 with an atmospheric chamber 70, the valve is balanced by providing a fourth chamber 102 connected at 100 to the vacuum chamber 64. The chamber 102 is formed between the valve casing 76 and a flexible wall 98 fast with a valve element 94 and the effective area of the wall is equal to the area bounded by the valve seats 90, 96. To engage the brakes pressure liquid from a master cylinder (not shown) is supplied through a duct 50 to a valve operating piston 110, initial movement of which closes the valve 92 whereafter further movement of the piston 110 moves the valve element 94 to open the valve 80. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 927,688.
