Abstract
Parts such as turbine blades are made from an alloy containing in percentage by weight: .Cr.8-25 .Co.5-30 .Ti.0.5-8 .Al.1-10 .C.0.01-0.5 .B.0.005-0.2 .Mo.0-12 .W.0-10 .Fe.0-5 .Zr.0-1 .Nb and/or Ta.0-2 .impurities not more than 2. .Ni.not less than 30 the alloy being produced by first melting together the constituents, and then converting it to powder, which is subsequently fabricated into the desired shapes by a process including sintering. The powdered alloy preferably has a particle size not greater than 60 mesh, and is preferably compacted at a pressure not less than 25 tons/sq.inch. Sintering, preferably in vacuum, may be carried out in the range 1240-1320 DEG C. for at least 10 hours. An exemplified heat treatment consists of 4 hours at 1080 DEG C. followed by air cooling, 24 hours at 845 DEG C., air cooling, finally 16 hours at 760 DEG C. and again air cooling.
