<PICT:0971818/C4-C5/1> A binary or ring counter (see Division G4) comprises a conductive base 10 on which is deposited an electroluminescent material 11 covered by a transparent electrode 12. A photo-conductor 13 covered by an electrode 14 is put directly on parts of electrode 12 while other photo-conductors 17, 20 and electrodes 18, 21 are separated from the electrode 12 by an insulator 15. Apertures A allow the count to be indicated.
