971,028. Earth-excavating machines. WHITLOCK BROS. Ltd. April 4, 1963 [April 24, 1962], No. 15563/62. Heading E1F. Supported on a mobile chassis 1 for rotation about a vertical axis 2 is a slewing member 3 on which is pivotally mounted about a vertical axis 10 offset from the first axis 2 a boom 12. The boom, which can be vertically swingable, may, as desired, support a bucket wheel or ladder, shovel units, or drag line scraper assemblies. The boom may be caused to retain - its direction relative to the chassis during rotation of the member by suitable linkage.
