Abstract

979,486. Injection moulding. UNITEDCARR FASTENER CORPORATION. Dec. 17, 1962 [Dec. 18, 1961], No. 47603/62. Heading B5A. [Also in Division E2] In a method of moulding a fastener having a tongue-like portion 2 removably insertable in an aperture 7 in a strip-like portion 3 to form an article-encircling loop, the direction of separation of the mould halves is transverse of and parallel to the plane of the strip-like portion, and the aperture 7 is formed by the juxtaposition of two moulded-in notches 10, 11 extending from opposite edges and on opposite sides of the strip-like portion 3. Figs. 5 and 6 show opposite sides of the fastener. Serrations 5 on the portion 2 engage the edge of the aperture 7. A projection 8 for gripping, e.g. a cable held by the fastener, may be provided on either portion 2 or 3 or on a base portion 1.
