979,367. Flexural pivot devices. BENDIX CORPORATION. Nov. 29, 1963 [Dec. 3, 1962], No. 47278/63. Heading E2F. A flexural pivot device comprises a stationary segment 11 and a rotatable segment 17 linked together by spring pairs 23, 25 and 27, 29 so that the segment 17 pivots about the common axis of the segments, the spring pairs being arranged at right angles and being spaced axially of the segments. Each spring pair comprises two parallel, spaced, facing flat blades which diverge from each other at one end only. The parallel ends of the spring pair 23, 25 are welded to an arcuate projection 15 of the stationary element 11 and the diverging ends of the pair are welded to a base section 19 of the rotatable element 17. The parallel ends of the spring pair 27, 29 are welded to a base section 13 of the stationary element 11 and the diverging ends of the pair are welded to an arcuate projection 21 of the rotatable element 17. During rotation of the member 17 relative to the member 11, the springs 23, 25 contact each other at their centres, and similarly with the springs 27, 29. Clockwise rotation is limited by the abutment of segment edge 35 with edge 36, but edge 37 does not abut edge 39, and anticlockwise rotation is limited by the abutment of edge 31 with edge 33.
