Abstract

979,339. Travellers. IAS PROCTOR METAL MASTS Ltd. Dec. 23, 1963 [Dec. 27, 1962], No. 48661/62. Heading B7V. A traveller 5 having a channel or bore 6 extending longitudinally thereof adapted in use to engage a rail 1 is provided with two grooves 8 co-operating with grooves 2 on the rail when the traveller is mounted thereon to define tracks or races for ball bearings 10, the traveller further comprising passages 11, 12 for the return of the balls from one end of each track to the other, and a projection 9 at the end of each groove to deflect the balls either from the track to the return passage or vice versa, depending on the direction of motion of the traveller, whereby in operation continuous recirculation of the ball bearings takes place as the traveller moves along the rail. The traveller has an eye-bolt 16 for attaching a sheet thereto, and apertured lugs 17 to which ropes can be attached for controlling the athwartships movement of the traveller along the rail.
