978,038. Buoyant pipes. E. SUZUKI. July 22, 1963 [Feb. 26, 1963], No. 28933/63. Heading F2P. [Also in Division B8] Apparatus for loading or unloading liquids from a ship comprises a buoy 1 connected by pipes 5, 6 to an on-shore tank and connectable by a floatable pipe 3 to a ship. The pipes 6, 3 are interconnected through the buoy and the end of the pipe 3 is provided with a rope 27 and float 26. The pipe 3 is closable by a cap 8 and has an interior air line 10 terminating adjacent thereto. By supplying compressed air through a non-return valve at the end of the line 10 the pipe 3 can be caused to float for connection to the ship. When liquid is passed through the pipe after connection it sinks below the water so that it is not damaged by waves.
