Abstract

977,776. Microwave ovens. J. LYONS & CO. Ltd. Jan. 31, 1963 [Feb. 2, 1962], No. 4064/62. Heading H5H. A radio-frequency oven has a door 7 to close an access opening so that on closure a thin and flexible portion 10 of the door 7 is urged through the medium of distributed resilient means by a stiff portion 17 of the door 7 into intimate contour following engagement with a flange 8 surrounding the opening. Between flanges 8 and 9 is a thin flexible metal plate 10 mounted on door 7 and the portion between flanges 8 and 9 is pressed against flange 8 by springs 16 located at intervals around flange 9 to ensure a good seal irrespective of any distortion of the door and oven. Flanges 8 and 9 and the periphery of plate 10 form a quarter wavelength choke. Specification 977,777 is referred to.
