In a yielding mine arch support wherein the arch segments A, B are clamped together by a U-shape strap C bolted to a flat cross-member D, the strap and cross-member are both provided with means such as recess means 5, Fig. 3, for positioning purposes and the member D has inclined surfaces 8 adapted during movement to repel wall lagging members P instead of entraining them. For slightly modified shapes of strap, cross-member and bolt heads, Figs. 5 -- 12 (not shown) should be referred to.
