Abstract

976,679. Idler rollers for belt conveyers. H. DOUBRAVA, and S. DOUBRAVA, [trading as DOUBRAVA KOMM.-GES.]. Feb. 22, 1963, No. 7330/63. Heading B8A. The internal diameter D of a tube 4 of a conveyer belt idler is greater than the diameter d of flange members 2 so that the members 2 can be inserted with a clearance into the tube. The surface 2a of the members 2 tapers and after the members have been inserted into the end portions of the tube, the latter are deformed so that the members 2 are bonded to the tube. The tube may be axially located by an annular extension 2b. The members 2 are supported on bearings 3 and may be made by pressing, die-casting or injection-moulding. In a modification, Fig. 2, flange members 9 are formed with ribs 9a, the overall diameter of the members exceeding the inside diameter of the tube. When the members 9 are inserted in the tube, the oversize portion of the ribs is shorn off. A synthetic resin adhesive may be applied to the ribs and/or the outside peripheral surfaces of the members 9 to act as a lubricant and to strengthen the joint when the adhesive has dried.
