Abstract

975,068. Carpenters joints. PAN ABODE BUILDINGS Ltd. June 17, 1963 [March 25, 1963], No. 24103/63. Heading A4W. [Also in Divisions A6 and E1] Elongate building units of timber having tongues and grooves along longitudinal side edges whereby they can be interfitted as one course above another to build a cottage, are provided with the joint construction shown for joining the units at right angles about the comers of the building. The joint is said to be tight such that local compaction of the wood takes place near the contacting surfaces and since each unit is provided with rounded edges over the areas 14, 16, it is also formed with correspondingly curved projections 36c to ensure complete resistance. The upper and lower notches 18, 20 may be of equal (as shown) or of different depths. In embodiments the shoulders 36a, 36b between the bearing surfaces and the sides of the unit, are bevelled. The unit is suitable to be produced as a toy when it is of wood, rubber, or polyurethane.
