Abstract

962,906. Hair curling appliances. NEWEY BROS. Ltd. Oct. 27, 1960 [Oct. 31, 1959], No. 37036/59. Heading A4V. A hair curler comprises a hollow perforate roller 10 and a separate clip 11 resiliently snapped on to the roller after hair has been wound thereon, and consisting of spaced co-axial arcuate bands 15 extending more than half way round their common axis and interconnected by parallel straps 16, a gap 17 between straps and bands of the clip allowing the application of treating liquid and drying of the hair. The roller and clip are unitary mouldings of polyethylene and polystyrene respectively, the roller having hair-engaging teeth 13 and outwardly projecting flanges 14 preventing lateral movement of the clip which has flared ribs 19 assisting application of the clip to the roller.
