Abstract
969,138. Cathode-ray tubes. HITACHI Ltd. Dec. 19, 1962 [Dec. 25, 1961], No. 48008/62. Heading H1D. In a colour cathode-ray tube of the type having indexing stripes 4 of secondary-emissive or fluorescent material, multiplier wings r are arranged to receive the emitted electrons or light and themselves emit an increased amount of secondary electrons which are collected by a coating 7 in the usual way. The stripes, of MgO or CdS, are formed on a conductive coating 3 backing the colour phosphors 2 and connected to a graphite coating 5 having a terminal 6. The wings are in two sets, connected to terminals 12 and 13 respectively, all the wings in each set being interconnected, and are of silvermagnesium; when the stripes are fluorescent the first set of wings r 1 . . . r n only are coated with silver or caesium oxide. The collecting coating 7, connected to terminal 8, is at a higher potential than the second set of wings, which, in turn are higher than the first set.
